about

2/The Two Brothers
My attention was drawn to this murder ballad by Derry based singer and BBC radio presenter Brian Mullen. He recalled learning the song from the Co. Antrim singer, storyteller and musician, John Kennedy. Beyond that, the song appears to be associated with the North-East of Scotland, particularly, the singer Elizabeth Stewart. I spent six years of my life in medical school in Aberdeen,so perhaps it is fate that I was attracted to this dark tale.
